Does it look stupid if I buy a very expensive sports equipment without being professional?

If I bought a very expensive baseball glove, bat, golf club, or even a $5000 bike, and I’m not a professional does it look weird?

Some of the road bikes out there are in the $5000 range. Should I be interested in those kinds of bikes only if I’m also serious about being in the Tour de France and not just a being weekend rider?

Looking forward to your own opinions.
Any other thoughts?

   For 5000 bike personally wouldnt consider something so expensive unless was going to be competing and riding lots more than just weekend rider then there are quite good for 5000 bike personally wouldnt consider something so.
