In addition to what the other respondants have already said, much of the equipment the pros use is still in the prototype phase and not yet available in the marketplace. Also, all of the leading manufacturers have equipment trailers that follow the PGA tour around the country and make special equipment and more importantly, tweak existing equipment exactly to each player’s desires. Many pros add weight to their irons, alter the loft and lie or make other subtle changes that you and I would not even notice. Very little of what is in a pro’s bag is standard, off-the-shelf gear. You actually CAN obtain most of it, but the cost would be prohibitively expensive. Cleveland and other companies send their company trailers or vans around the country to retailers on occasion, but you pay a lot for their tweaks.
