I was trying out new cavity back golf irons: titleist 775, mizuno mx25, r7, x20. The ball started out the same with all 4 models, but with the titleists and mx25s, the ball sort of gave out after reaching its peak height. With the r7s and x20s the ball resumed in its normal fashion. My question is: why did the ball sort of die with the first two irons? The titleists and mx25 are forged irons and made of different metals so maybe that has something to do with it. They also have less offset and slightly smaller heads. I don’t feel it is a swing question because the balls came off the face similarly with all 4 irons. I used graphite shafts in all 4 models. Thanks.

I see all these characters with enormous drivers and exotic metals and remember there are USGA rules about certain limits on equipment. For example, you can’t have a club that plays left- or right-handed, unless a putter. But is is legal to have a driver the size of a volkswagen?

Prefer the small sleek kind myself.
